A technique used for small moles where the area around the mole is numb, and a small blade is used to cut around and under the mole. It is not an invasive surgery as even stitches are not required.

Excisional surgery

Also known as Excisional biopsy where the mole plus the skin around it is cut using a scalpel or a puncture device. This treatment is generally used when melanoma is detected in the early stages, and the mole has not grown and spread to different parts of the body. This kind of treatment requires sutures are it is a very invasive surgery.

Mole removal is pretty much as cosmetic surgery

Mole removal is not as simple as getting a laser facial. Most mole removals require local anaesthetic as the doctors prefer it to remove surgically so that they can send it to the pathology lab for further testing for any cancerous cells. Consider radio-surgery as it is safer than a laser and also have virtually no scarring.

If you are considering other options for your mole removal, laser mole removal is also a possibility with minimal discomfort. However, it may depend on the type of mole. If you are dark skinned person laser mole removal treatment will not be suitable treatment, and you will need to remove the mole surgically.

You may require more than one session

You may not see the result with just one laser mole removal surgery as it requires few more sessions of laser treatment before it completely disappears. It also depends on the type of mole the laser treatment is taking place; it is a normally raised bump. It may take up to 3-4 sessions before you see the result. Talk to your dermatologist before determining what procedure is right for you.
