How to Build an Electric Motor

It can be very difficult to understand that how magnetic fields and electric current interact with each other. And you should keep in mind that you cannot build an electric motor unless you have complete knowledge of how these powers interact with each other. And if you are unable to understand the interaction, you won’t be able to build an effective electric motor. But there is an easy way that you can use to build a basic electric motor. We know that there is a tiny scientist inside you that is constantly forcing you to address such kind of crazy projects.

And we believe that there is nothing wrong with addressing such kind of projects as it allows you to understand the nature of different machines and gadgets. In fact, we always motivate the people that are willing to address such kind of projects because these projects will help you become a scientist in the future. There are numerous products we use in our daily routine that are powered by electric motor. So, you must take some time to understand the nature of this electric motor. Usually, the youngsters like to give a try to such kind of projects.

Therefore, we recommend that you should take all the safety measures before you start addressing this project. Here is the information you can use to build an effective electric motor.

Wind the coil

Winding the coil is the first part of this project. You need to take attach four pencils with the help of a tape and then start wrapping the coil around these pencils. Make sure that the pencils you are using have the diameter of at least the half an inch.

Connecting the battery

Make sure that the batteries are attached to a strong surface so that they do not move from their place. You can use the tape to attach the batteries with a solid object. Thus, you’d be able to connect the battery to the coil in a safe and secure way. The battery should be placed in a way that you can easily reach its both terminals.

Attach the needles to the terminals

The needles should be attached to the terminals of the battery and the wire of the coil should be attached to the holes of these needles.

Bring the magnet

Now that everything is properly attached it’s time to bring a magnet near the coil. Once the magnet gets closer to the coil, it will produce the current. And when you’d spin the coil, the current will be produced rapidly. However, make sure that the magnet is properly attached to the battery otherwise, it would keep falling on the ground.
